These books are Ok for High School with a Little Help Although written for an adult audience, these books are readable by high school students. Personally, I began reading many of them by the time I was in the 10th grade. They are all entertaining, but do require the reader to visualize the scene mentally. Discussion among peers, viewing quality sf movies and tv series and discussion with a teacher helps the student gain the experience needed to conceptualize an unknown environment based on the written word. |

These have been read and approved by at least one teacher for use with secondary students, especially those that are used to the range of subject matter covered on prime time network television. Look for comments about the need for parent approval if violence or mild profanity is excessive or if sexual themes are involved. These books should not cantain excessive and graphic or gratuitous violence, extensive profanity, or overt sexual scenes and adult sexual delimmas. Look for this stamp. It marks books that I enjoyed, and that contains topics for use in teaching, but would want to ask local parents about before assigning it to my students. |
