Looking for an essay or lesson of a particular theme?

Articles in this site are referred to as essays. There are many. This page will assist you in finding an essay or article of interest. Many of the essays are categorized by theme or audience. Some were written as part of a series. Some will overlap themes, series and audiences.

Many essays were written to inform or educate, and may be used in a classroom lesson. Some pages are specifically designed for students, some for teachers and parents. Some pages will not be an essay but a list or reference or other web copy. These pages are listed if they suit a topic, audience or series; if not, a page might will be part of a series and only the series introduction page will be listed.

Articles by other authors will carry a byline or a note about the author. Otherwise, articles are written by Valerie Coskrey. Consider them copyrighted; however, if you need to use them please contact me. Of course academic use is always allowed with the proper reference.

Essays are listed alphabetically within a theme, except for pages of a series. Some series will be listed within a theme alphabetically by series name. Within a series, the introductory page of a series will be listed first, with other pages listed either in order according to the topic or alphabetically or a combination of both. Since Valerie is a freelance writer and has several websites (1and1.com makes it easy to do a website!), some essays and series from other sites are included in the lists.

Chosen with Teaching in Mind

Some pages were written in setsor units that I called series. Series differ from topics because they sometimes cover a range of topics.

These links take you to the first page of a series. Breadcrumbs and links on each page will take you further. Doublecheck the theme lists for related articles not in the series.
