Using the Examples in Science Database

Please note:  All misspellings and loose phrases are part of this rough draft type of conversation.  The copies of the Access database table screen (grey area with Examples of Phenomena) is also rough draft copy.  The database file has since been proofed and the obvious mistakes seen here have been corrected.

Adventures in Computing:

How I Did what I Did

I could not find the list of references that I had made for the report topic Living in the Arctic Circle.  This list was the result of hours of exploring the internet (2, maybe 8, I don't remember).  So I searched for it.  The Access database popped up in the search.  This inspired me to include the article on Arctic seabirds in the list.  What followed next resulted in this result from the database—which surprised and pleased me no end.  Read on.

I needed a reference to an article that I had read and included in my Access database Examples Science.

Reference to this article can be found in the database Examples in Science.  A portion of this database is listed below.  This is

what I did and why.

I could not find the file of the references to Living in the Arctic Circle, so I initiated a search through my Windows Explorer file.  The Examples in Science Access database was listed as a Search Result, along with the Word file, Internet sites about report topic living above the artic circle, which was my rough draft of the page of files for my file to embed for the topic Living in the Arctic Circle.  (Yeah, sometimes my spelling is atrocious.  Sometimes it's the typing. Uh huh.)  I then opened the database file and selected the reference to the article that I remembered writing about Arctic seabirds (I didn't have to do an Access query because the database is still new and has so few records.)  Anyway, I selected the reference cell for the record, opened the clipboard (I was afraid I'd lose the copy otherwise), copied the cell, and moved it to this file.  Here I pasted it: the result is below.  Then I selected the reference information printed below and copied it.  I pasted it to this file, where it appears like this: Milius, S. (2005) Arctic Foulers, Science News, july 16, vol. 168, No. 3 , pp. 36-37.  Notice again, there are some typos, since my source files are still new.

(The actual size of the item below is about 2” across.  It grew during the formatting of this page.)
